- Selective breeding program involves around 500 breedable ewes weighing not
less than 30 Kg and rams which are 20% superior in body weight compared to
farmers flocks.
- Practicing designated mating using 10 to 12 sires/year by maintaining 1:50
male Female ratio.
- The top 25% of Ram Lambs will be selected based on body weight at Weaning
age of 3 months and sequential selection will be implemented based on 6
months and 9 months body weights.
- The top 5% of Ram lambs born are retained as future elite parent stock and
the remaining ram lambs are supplied to the farmers/breeders on cost basis.
