Department of Livestock Products Technology has started functioning in the year 1998 as per the VCI regulations, by amalgamation of part of Department of Dairy Science and Department of Meat Science and Technology, which were existing from October 1967. The Department offers both UG and PG courses and research on Livestock Products Processing, Quality control and safety. Post graduate courses leading to M.V.Sc and PhD were started in the year 1998. So far, 10 M.V.Sc. and 6 Ph.D. students have passed out of this Department. It also trains students in entrepreneurial skills through Earn While You Learn Projects on Milk, Meat and Egg products involving UG students.

This department is offering consultancy services to Slaughter houses of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and APEDA sponsored export oriented abattoirs. It imparts refresher courses to field Veterinarians, Self employment training to rural youth, women members of SHGs in different aspects of livestock products including meat and milk products. Dissemination of technologies through Radio and TV talks is done to create awareness among farmers and small entrepreneurs.
