This Department came in to existence in the year 2005 with the adoption of VCI regulations. Apart from teaching, the Department undertakes varied outreach programs and has been instrumental in transfer of technology from lab to land. Awareness campaigns for enhancing awareness on improved animal husbandry practices are taken up by this Department. The Department is equipped with well furnished Audio Visual lab, Multimedia lab, Group discussion hall and Information Centre.

The department has brought out 25 multimedia modules, several booklets and pamphlets on dairy, sheep, goat and fish production. Several technology transfer tools such as multipurpose display system, digital flash cards, collapsible banner and COMBACCS were also developed by the Department.
Research Projects completed
  1. Improving livelihood security of women self help groups (WSHGs) involved in livestock rearing through capacity building in gender awareness (DFID, UK, 2006-2011)
  2. Technology Transfer and Dissemination Initiatives for Livestock Development Through Establishment Of Educational Multimedia Resource Centre (RKVY, 2008-12).
  3. Economic empowerment of Dairy Famers through Adoption of Improved Technologies (State Plan).
