The Department was created in the year 1973. The Department has a state of the art In vitro fertilization lab equipped with Phase contrast microscope and stereo zoom microscope besides general equipment for IVF studies. Huge collection of Gynaecology, Andrology and obstetrical specimens of different species are available at this Department.

Besides academic training, the Department also provides technical services to the farming community by conducting clinical camps, Diagnostic Visits, Farmer training programs etc. The Department has focused on Hormonal therapies for induction of postpartum oestrus in Murrah Buffaloes, Repeat breeding in crossbred cows, Induction of whelping in bitches. It also evaluated therapeutic protocols for estrus synchronization in Sheep and anoestrus Bitches.
