The Department started functioning independently from the year 1978. It started offering M.V.Sc. program from 1982 and PhD from the year 2005. So far, 70 M.V.Sc. and 3 Ph.D. students have passed out from this Department. The faculty are specialized in various areas like ophthalmology, small animal internal medicine and cardiology and hence capable of providing specialized services to the patients. The faculty participate in different outreach programs such as Kisan Melas for the benefit of farmers. The faculty also participate in treatment and management of cases presented to VCC and also provide emergency services to the LFC livestock.
