This Department started offering Master's program in the year 1984. Besides academic training, the Department provides technical services to various institutes such as Nehru Zoological Park, Indian Police Academy, Hyderabad Race Club, Indian Immunologicals, National institute of Animal Biotechnology, Centre for cellular and molecular biology and Private Livestock farms etc. This Department has state of the art laboratory with immunodiagnostic and molecular facilities to conduct the studies on Parasitic diseases of livestock and zoonotic pathogens. The Department has developed immune diagnostic test- IFAT for Toxoplasmosis in backyard poultry and Dot ELISA test for Schistosomosis in bovines and Oesophagostomosis in sheep.
